You Never Knew

Posted on March 22nd, 2009 by Avinashi

You never knew

that after you left I stayed

by the impression on the ground where you’d lain

I drew my hand

over the flattened grass and it was

as if I needed and cherished your absence more

than I needed and cherished you

One of the most beautiful poems I’ve ever read. Is it a part of Undergraduate course in literature too?

Suits me just perfect :) I’ve begun to feel that I need and cherish the ‘absence’ of everything in life rather than their presence.

The flattened grass, tha hand…. What a beautiful , beautiful way to put it.
